Residents paid Rs 2,52,300 for spitting in public places

Mumbai : Spitting in public places is a punishable offence as has been declared by Indian Government in context to Coronavirus epidemic. 

Pune Police and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Sanitary Inspectors have fined more than 1,600 people and collected a total fine of Rs 2,52,300 in the last two months as told by Police .

Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar has issued an instruction to PCMC to impose fine of Rs 500 or 1000 on people found spitting in public places. He also stated that action will be taken against the people flouting the guideline under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act.
