Kolkata Asst.Police Commissioner dies of coronavirus

Kolkata, Aug. 21: Uday Shankar Bandyopadhyay, Asst. Commissioner of Kolkata Police died of the deadly coronavirus infection. He died on Friday morning at a private hospital in Kolkata by-pass area after a battling. Panic had been created among the high police-officers and police personnel after the news spread.
According to police sources, seven days ago, Uday Shankar had been admitted to a private hospital near by-pass area with severe illness. He was tested positive for the Covid 19. He was on ventilation support for last 4 days. Uday Shankar Banerjee was posted in the Central division of Kolkata Police. He is the ninth police officer from the capital city to have lost his life to the lethal virus.

Mourning Uday Shankar’s demise, the Kolkata Police tweeted, “We deeply mourn the untimely demise of Assistant Commissioner Uday Shankar Banerjee, who was posted in the Central Division . He was affected with COVID19 and was at the forefront of our Fight AgainstCorona.
