Jalpaiguri, Aug. 21: Rajgunj in Jalpaiguri is on boil after a minor’s gang-rape and murder. Tension prevails in the area even after the arrest of the accused. The victim’s family along with the angry locals started demonstration, demanding the capital punishment of the killers.
Police said, in the evening of August 10, a minor girl aged 16 had been missing from her house at Lalschool Balabari village under Sannyasikata Gram Panchayet. Her father made a missing diary the very next day and requested the police to look into the matter. Police immediately started an investigation under the leadership of CI Dipajjwal Bhowmick and arrested three young men, namely Rahaman Ali (30) of Pradhanpara, Rajgunj, Jamirul Haque (28) of Shoulomari and Tamirul Haque (32) of Jahureer Dangamari on Thursday night.
Police said, the 16 year-old- girl who first went missing after which she was held captive somewhere. The girl was gang-raped by three men for over five days before being murdered. On the day of August 15, the three accused person killed the minor. The police have apprehended the three accused in the case. Police recovered the victim’s body from a septic-tank of a house at Pradhanpara.
Police said the three accused confessed their guilt and they have been produced to the court. The angry locals demanded their capital punishment for the brutal crime. On Friday, Khageswar Das, the local MLA, and Krishna Das, the President of SC, ST,OBC cell of Jalpaiguri, met the victim’s family and supported them. Khageswar Das said, “It’s a brutal case, they should get the death penalty.
