Police Day is celebrated across the state

Kolkata, Sep. 8: Police Day is celebrated on Tuesday across the state. The day is dedicated to the police family of the state to remember the Covid warriors for their sacrifice and determination for fighting the disease from the front. On this special day, the CM inaugurated the new office of the SP Alipurduar.
The Police Day is celebrated by the police personnel of West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police throughout the day by greeting the police personnel who defeated the fatal virus.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 16 August announced that the state will celebrate September 1 every year as Police Day to honour sacrifices made by cops while fighting Covid 19 pandemic in the state. She said, “Police is not only maintaining law and order, they are working on containment zones, ensuring food supplies reach them, arranging free ambulance, arranging beds, they are doing everything. Because of accidents, political programs, the police is coming in direct contact and getting infected.”

The original plan was deferred following the death of former President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday.
