Unnatural death at Chinsurah old-age home : Hooghly District Human Rights demands probe

From our correspondent, Chinsurah, Sep. 12: The mysterious death of an elderly boarder of an old-age home in Chinsurah Dharampur area is raking up a controversy. Local human rights organization demands a probe into the unnatural death.
Notably, locals recovered on August 23, an old man namely Jamini Ranjan Ghoshal who was a boarder of the old age home. The man was spotted floating in a nearby pond by the local residents and he was immediately admitted to Chinsurah Imambara Hospital, but he had died on 24 August night.

After that incident locals raised several questions about the security of the boarders. Hooghly District Human Rights Justice Association has demanded a probe into the mysterious death of the old man, Jamini Ranjan Ghoshal. Malay Majumdar, an advocate and the president of the organization visited the old-age home with a physician. He asked the authority about the shocking incident. The care-taker of the home told him that Jamini Ranjan consumed acid and jumped into the pond.
But, the confession of the care-taker leaves a chain of questions. From where Jamini Ranjan collected acid and how he came out of the home – all these questions are still unanswered.
