Major militants-attack averted: Huge cache of explosives found in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Sep 17: Kashmir Police averted a major militant attack by means of explosive substances, after seizing huge cache of explosive material in South Kashmir’s Awantipora on Thursday. In a statement, police said that acting on tipoff about the presence of militant of outfit Jaish-e- Mohammad, Police, 42 Rashtriya Rifles and 130 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force conducted a joint search of the nursery area near forests of village GadikhalAwantipora.

During search operation of the forest area 2 explosive dumps were found which were concealed underground in 2 different 250 liters plastic tanks. Police recovered 416 high explosive gelatin sticks and 50 detonators which were kept concealed.
