Al-Qaeda module busted in West Bengal and Kerala’s arrested 9 today

Delhi, Sep. 19: Pakistan-sponsored Al Qaeda module was busted by the National Investigation Agency on Saturday morning. NIA has arrested nine men from West Bengal and Kerala. Six persons were arrested from West Bengal’s Murshidabad and three from Kerala’ Ernakulam.
Murshid Hasan, Iyakub Biswas and Mosaraf Hossen have been arrested from Ernakulam while those nabbed from Murshidabad were Najmus Sakib, Abu Sufiyan, Mainul Mondal, Leu Yean Ahmed, Al Mamun Kamal and Atitur Rehman.
As per the NIA, simultaneous raids were conducted at several locations in Kerala’s Ernakulam and West Bengal’s Murshidabad. The nine arrested terrorists are associated with Pakistan sponsored module of Al-Qaeda.

NIA had received inputs about an inter-state module of Al-Qaeda operatives at several different locations in India including West Bengal and Kerala. The group was planning to undertake terrorist attacks at vital installations in India with an aim to kill innocent people and strike terror in their minds. Accordingly, a case was registered and an investigation was launched.
